Update: Plex have released local file playback on Android!
Did you know that using Plex Android Camera Upload, you can auto-sync your pictures from your Android phone to your Plex Media Server? So- let’s get onto how to set it up. This does require an active Plex Pass Subscription.
Plex Android Camera Upload – Install Guide

- Login to your Plex Account in the Plex Android App
- Open the settings tab
- Go to the “Camera Upload” Tab
Now choose what library you wish for Plex Android Camera Upload by doing this:
- In Camera Upload tap on “Libraries”
- Click on either a library that you want, or create new
- If clicking create new just enter the name of the new library, and click create.
Now just go back into the Camera Upload tab, and enable it using the toggle.
Album: Using this you can choose what album in your specified library you want the photos to be uploaded to- or even create a new one.
Upload content: Tell Plex when you wish your content to be synced:
- When Charging
- As soon as new photos appear
This feature is extreme useful for people who sleep with their phone on charge, as all of their photos can be synced when they’re asleep.
Upload on Data Only: This is rather self-explanatory, don’t tick the box if you wish for Plex to only upload on Mobile Data.
